Management of the Legal & Commercial Department
- Oversee all aspects of the Legal & Commercial department.
- Provide legal and commercial support to the business, with a thorough understanding of the market.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate legal and contractual risks internally and externally.
- Handle high-exposure projects and commercial activities, including contract drafting, negotiations, claims, and contract management.
- Support the management and negotiation of claims and change requests for ongoing contracts.
- Draft and maintain contractual templates for the organization.
- Manage internal legal risks and compliance, ensuring adherence to policies, approvals, and business assurance standards.
- Lead efforts in good corporate governance and compliance.
- Engage regularly with business partners, stakeholders, external experts, and legal counsel.
- Handle Company Secretariat functions, including advising the Board of Directors, updating registers, lodging statutory documents, taking minutes, drafting resolutions, and ensuring statutory compliance per the Companies Act of 2008.
- Provide Corporate Governance training to the Board and management team as needed.
- Serve as the POPIA information officer for the company.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified as a South African lawyer (University law degree).
- Admitted to practice law.
- 5-7 years experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Experience with ICT-related contracts.
