VICE-PRESIDENT (VP) OF OPERATIONS – POWER (POW)

- Subordinate: Plant Managers, Engineering Managers, HSE Superintendent, HR & Administration Superintendent, Commercial & Administration Superintendent, Procurement Superintendent
- Designation Level: Divisional Head
Objective
The VP of Operations (POW) will oversee all plant operations, optimize production systems, and ensure efficient power distribution while maintaining safety, environmental standards, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Lead plant teams to ensure efficient and safe operations; develop maintenance plans using CMMS; make autonomous decisions regarding personnel and technical matters.
- Safety & Compliance: Establish safety protocols, operational procedures, and environmental regulations; enforce compliance.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Implement proactive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Budget Management: Develop and oversee operational budgets, control costs, and forecast expenditures.
- Emergency Response: Develop emergency plans and train staff for incident response.
- Reporting: Prepare performance, safety, and compliance reports for CEO and clients.
- Stakeholder Relations: Maintain positive relationships with authorities, communities, and stakeholders.
- Culture: Foster a problem-solving culture within the team.
- Engineering, Procurement & Construction Support: Review construction drawings, manage warranty issues, and ensure quality standards during commissioning.
- Operations & Maintenance: Lead power generation operations, develop policies, approve major shutdowns, support client and budget issues, ensure compliance.
- Procurement & Logistics: Oversee procurement agreements, review budgets and schedules, seek savings.
- Finance & Compliance: Monitor budgets, work with finance for financial strategies, ensure project and regulatory compliance.
- Organizational Development: Manage team performance, develop staff, participate in recruitment, oversee leave and shift schedules.
Qualifications
BSc in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation & Control Engineering; Master’s in Engineering, Business, or Management is a plus. Multicultural experience preferred.
Knowledge & Experience
At least 12+ years in the oil & gas industry, specifically power plants, with 10+ years post-qualification experience in power plant management. Familiar with regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, ISO norms, etc.).
