We require experienced DIESEL TECHNICIANS / MECHANICS (COMMERCIAL / DEALERSHIP) for permanent employment based in Piet Retief.

Title : Diesel Technicians / Mechanics (Commercial / Dealership)

Ref No. : TRG 2172

Salary : Market related TCTC available / neg (+ Industry benefits)

Start Date : As soon as possible

We require experienced DIESEL TECHNICIANS / MECHANICS (COMMERCIAL / DEALERSHIP) for permanent employment based in Piet Retief.

  • The Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for performing customer service work (inspection) and maintenance repairs to high standards, promoting the branch image with reliable and cost-efficient work.
  • Performs customer service, retrofitting accessories, and maintenance repairs to preserve vehicle value.
  • Handles customer property with care, fostering a positive brand and service image, contributing to customer satisfaction.
  • Supports Systems Technicians in more complex system repairs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Order Reception
  • Conduct visual inspections and on-board diagnosis during pre-diagnosis.
Work Preparation
  • Receive and verify workshop orders.
  • Drive vehicle to workshop, fit fender cover.
  • Use checklists for proper work execution documentation.
  • Research in workshop info system, prepare operating equipment and parts.
  • Perform maintenance services per manufacturer specifications, including visual inspections, calibration, fluid top-ups, and parts replacement.
  • Identify deviations, initiate feedback to customers, reset systems, and document work.
  • Reassemble and prepare parts for return if reconditioned.
  • Assist in assembly and repair work under supervision.
  • Document work, record hours, and tidy workshop.
  • Retrofit accessories and request parts as needed.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS :
  • 3-5 years post-trade experience as a Truck Technician.
  • Experience in a truck dealership or commercial truck workshop.
  • Exposure to big commercial brand trucks.
  • Mechanical skills, diagnostics, and equipment experience.
  • Code 14 license is an advantage.
  • Available to start ASAP or negotiable.
  • Traceable references.
  • Residency in Piet Retief required.
