JUNIOR WORKSHOP AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN - DURBAN
We require a mature, responsible, and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a workshop and service technician. Our vacuum pumps are critical to our customers' processes, so prompt and accurate service is essential. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple issues simultaneously and respond effectively to customer needs, both during and outside of normal working hours.

Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12 or N6, preferably with a trade qualification as Millwright or Fitter & Turner.

Experience Required
- 3-5 years experience in a service workshop
- Mechanical & electrical experience with pumps and electrical motors, preferably vacuum pumps
- Must be hands-on and precise
- Proactive, energetic, helpful, and a team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passionate, enthusiastic, and customer-focused
- Sales-oriented mindset for repairs
- Self-disciplined, results-driven, able to work under pressure
- Strong numerical and data handling skills
- Ability to multitask in a high-performance environment
- Professional approach to repairs and servicing
- Good planning and time management skills
Job Description
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles
- Hands-on work in the service centre
- Perform stripping, cleaning, testing, and assembling of vacuum pumps
- Book in pumps upon delivery and inform line manager
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding faults and servicing
- Travel for onsite servicing and repairs as needed
- Manage the sales process from enquiry to delivery and payment
- Create job cards and quotations
- Follow up on offers and orders
- Order local parts and prepare spares for delivery or collection
- Be computer literate; experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Pastel is advantageous
- Log data and track monthly statistics
- Update company SharePoint and lean kits daily
- Follow and improve workshop procedures
- Adhere to employment conditions and work overtime when necessary
- Willing to learn new skills and undergo training
- Maintain stock and spares levels awareness
- Report to senior technician and branch manager
- Experience in managing workshop staff is a plus
- Travel overseas for training may be required
- Travel to branches in CT, Jhb, and PE as needed
- Assist with deliveries, collections, and customer inquiries
- Source parts for products and assist walk-in customers
- Provide follow-up on service schedules
