GCP BI Architect position available in Cape Town.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced BI Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-level Business Intelligence solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in BI architecture, extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and the ability to confidently engage with executive-level stakeholders.

This is a strategic role requiring both technical depth and business acumen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable BI architectures leveraging GCP and modern data stack tools.
• Collaborate with senior executives and business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics needs.
• Translate business requirements into robust, future-ready BI solutions and data models.
• Define BI governance standards and best practices for data visualisation, ETL/ELT, and data integration.
• Guide and mentor data engineering and analytics teams on architectural decisions.
• Evaluate and recommend BI tools, platforms, and emerging technologies aligned to business goals.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security across BI solutions and data pipelines.

Must-Have Requirements:

• Proven experience as a BI Architect or in a senior BI/Data Engineering role with architectural responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, including tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Looker, and Cloud Composer.
• Strong understanding of BI frameworks, data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and analytics ecosystems.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, especially at executive/C-suite level.
• Ability to work independently and drive BI strategy across multiple business units.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• GCP certification (e.g., Professional Data Engineer, Cloud Architect) is advantageous.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a bonus.
