Job title: Junior Product Developer

Job Location: Western Cape, Cape Town

Main accountabilities:

1. Assist the Product Developer with collating briefs for local and international suppliers on new product designs for development once the designs are approved.
2. Follow up on sampling and costing to ensure internal deadlines are met by suppliers.
3. With the help of suppliers, assist with putting together assembly instructions where needed as part of spec briefs.
4. Ensure the filing system is kept up to date on all product development designs/briefs and signed off specs.
5. Prepare and update spec sheets outlining all product information on each new product for signoff by supplier and buyer – cross-checking for accuracy.
6. Work closely with the Product Developer to assist in ensuring all new product information is relayed timeously to ensure a successful product launch.
7. Assist the Product Developer in putting together technical drawings for new product briefs.
8. Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal teams to streamline feedback and resolve any issues.
9. Prepare additional documentation such as presentations for internal meetings or supplier briefings as needed.
10. Help evaluate prototypes and samples, providing feedback on design, functionality, and materials.
11. Help coordinate with production teams to ensure manufacturing processes align with product specifications.

Technical Skills:

1. A 3-year diploma in drafting, industrial design, or interior design.
2. Technical knowledge of design software e.g., AutoCAD, Fusion.
3. A minimum of 1-2 years working experience in product development, project coordination, or design, preferably in the furniture industry.
4. Demonstrated passion for materials, furniture construction, and design; creative and passionate about the Weylandts brand.
5. Eager to use skills to maximize the brand look and sales potential.
6. Comprehensive Microsoft Office skills are required.
7. Well organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple projects at a time.
8. This role will require a driver's license and own reliable transport.
