Food and Beverage Procurement Manager

About The Job

The CSIR has a vacancy for a Food and Beverage Procurement Manager in the Conferencing and Accommodation Portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, purchasing, and controlling food and beverage commodities, other products, and services for the Conferencing and Accommodation Group in line with the PFMA and CSIR procurement policies and procedures. This position is based in Pretoria.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Establish panels of suppliers, conduct Requests for Quotations, Proposals, Tenders, etc., and negotiate contracts with support from the CSIR's Strategic Procurement Unit.
  2. Negotiate contracts with suppliers.
  3. Conduct market research, source suppliers, and maintain an updated supplier database.
  4. Maintain best practices with suppliers regarding pricing, service delivery, quality, BBBEE requirements, and negotiate the best pricing.
  5. Ensure all food and beverage suppliers conform to food safety and hygiene standards and present valid certifications.
  6. Procure and control stock of commodities, products, and services for kitchen and banqueting departments.
  7. Process operational and financial documents and records on procurement, stock, and POS systems.
  8. Data capturing and reporting.
  9. Perform stock controls, including month-end stock counts and reports.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  1. A National Diploma in Hospitality Management, Procurement, Logistics, or related fields; food safety diplomas or certificates; with at least five years of experience in a hospitality procurement environment.
  2. Experience with government procurement regulations, PFMA, and National Treasury Regulations is advantageous.
  3. Valid code 8 driver’s license.
  4. Knowledge of suppliers in the hospitality industry.
  5. Procurement, supplier management, and stock management skills.
  6. Interpersonal, food safety, and hygiene skills.
  7. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  8. Proactive approach and people management skills.
  9. Computer literacy, including familiarity with stock and POS systems.
  10. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  11. International qualifications require evaluation by SAQA.
