Position Overview

Operating globally, the Morae Technology team seeks to provide the service, expertise and technology solutions to allow the brightest minds in the industry to collaborate, innovate and transform the legal landscape. This is an exciting role, with the goal to help deliver the corporate technology landscape of the future, to enable teams across the business to succeed.

The role serves as the focal point for corporate technology projects driving operational excellence across Morae, a ‘best-in-class’ technology offer to our colleagues, integrated corporate applications, business intelligence, company-wide automation, business process improvement, and an excellent user experience.

From scoping to delivery, the role will manage budgets, foster team synergy, and collaborate with third parties to actualize our strategic vision. As part of the wider Technology team, the role will jointly maintain a Project Management framework, ensuring that Corporate Technology projects are onboarded, budgeted, managed, and reported in a consistent and organized manner.

An ideal candidate will not only be technically proficient but will also have great leadership and soft skills. A willingness to learn and flex based on the demands of the program are key to succeeding in this role.

The post-holder will have a background in delivering corporate technology systems, applications integration, Infrastructure, and project delivery in a mid-sized organization. The person will be an excellent communicator, comfortable liaising with senior business leaders and technology teams alike. They will have experience in building business cases, tightly managing budgets and driving success in a collaborative manner that is laser focused on delivery to time and in budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead corporate technology projects, plotting delivery targets and business goals.
  • Deliver projects and programs with significant business and/or technical risks.
  • Work closely with a variety of skilled roles, including End User Support Engineers, Data Platform Engineers, and Applications Developers Managers to inspire them towards success.
  • Bridge the gap between technical and business teams, establishing strong relationships.
  • Uphold Morae’s commitment to exceptional client service, regulatory compliance, and data security in all change activities, expertly managing any associated risks.
  • Seek and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency and improving service.
  • Optimize and use delivery methodologies for achieving goals (e.g., agile, waterfall, iterative).
  • Bring together, coordinate and energize global technology teams to deliver goals.
  • Ignite enthusiasm, fuelling momentum and showcasing the substantial benefits of change.
  • Create and track plans for delivery, including the technical implementation plans.
  • Understand trade-offs and resulting impacts; make impacts visible to Technology leadership, Product, and Infrastructure teams for the right decision to be made.
  • Manage dependencies and plans using knowledge of technical architecture.
  • Appreciate and respond to delivery challenges, using knowledge of corporate technology implementations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Applications, End User Support and Infrastructure teams to define annual budgets requirements.
  • Build positive relationships with vendors for solutions, professional, and managed services.
  • Manage procurements from cradle to grave, including development of requirements, RFP/RFQ preparation, evaluation, negotiation, delivery/implementation, and closure.
  • Coach peers and other colleagues on project management methodologies and tools.
  • Produce high-quality project and program documentation, including options appraisals, business cases, status reporting, roadmaps, and closure papers.
  • Establish and manage relationships and governance with project sponsors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Professional certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISSP, Lean Six Sigma) are a benefit.
  • Certifications in technology stacks and/or cloud platforms are a benefit.

Skills & Experience

  • A track record in delivery of corporate IT technologies, with a focus on Enterprise Applications, End User Computing, data platforms, and security solutions.
  • Major systems implementations and migrations, e.g., CRM, Finance, HR, and Project Management platforms, associated integrations and user technology refreshes.
  • Leading the technology changes, including creation the runbooks, and managing the implementation of the change with engineers and technical peers.
  • A humble, determined character and an entrepreneurial spirit, driven by a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Building credible relationships and influencing senior management & leadership teams
  • Strong vendor management and negotiating skills with a keen focus on quality.
  • Exceptional reporting skills for projects, programs and financial forecasting.
  • Excellent communication & influencing skills and working across multiple geographies.
  • Excellent Risk and Issue Management.
  • Resilient, able to work within a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with 5+ years of leading projects.
  • Management techniques such as DevOps/CloudOps, and ITIL-aligned service operations.
  • Microsoft M365, collaboration, ITSM, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Lean process improvement techniques are a strong benefit.
