Job description

Our client is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Officer to join their team.

Purpose of the Job

The incumbent will be responsible for the full payroll and benefits function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of monthly payrolls in compliance with legislative requirements and company policies.

The role includes maintaining employee records and communicating effectively with staff regarding payroll and benefits matters.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Improve payroll policies and procedures as needed.
  2. Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements.
  3. Ensure payroll operational effectiveness.
  4. Manage and administer employee benefits payroll administration.
  5. Payroll Administration
  • Manage end-to-end payroll for over [number] employees on monthly and weekly cycles.
  • Maintain payroll system and records.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs from divisions and ensure accuracy.
  • Process new hires, terminations, and salary changes.
  • Handle expense claims, tax codes, statutory payments, and calculations.
  • Manage overtime, maternity leave, UIF, pension, provident fund, medical aid, and garnishees.
  • Draft certificates of service and employment confirmations.
  • Ensure employees access payslips and manage IRP5 and other submissions.
  • Support finance with payroll administration and reporting.
  • Manage disability claims, withdrawals, death, and funeral claims.
  • Payroll Reporting
    • Maintain payroll data on Sage People system.
    • Prepare reports, year-end data, and ad hoc reports.
    • li>Update and verify internal payroll trackers.
    • Assist auditors and finalize year-end reports.
  • Query Management
    • Address pay-related queries promptly and accurately.
    • Provide guidance on payroll policies, leave, benefits, and HR procedures.
    • Deliver excellent customer service to employees regarding pay and benefits.
  • General
    • Maintain filing systems and resolve HR queries.
    • Provide administrative support within the HR team.
    Requirements

    Mandatory Qualifications :

    • Matric / Diploma in Business Management, Finance, HR, Accounting, or related fields.

    Desirable Qualifications :
