The Project Developer will be responsible for supporting the development and structuring of energy projects from early opportunity through to the development cycle and to financial close. The Project Developer will be responsible for a range of project development activities, with a key focus on business development, reporting directly to the Head of Project Development. Additionally, the Project Developer will handle raising finance and procuring products.
Requirements
Strategy Execution
- Lead the project development process for wind, solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage projects, from land identification to bid-ready or ready-to-build stages.
- Obtain and maintain permits, approvals, and licenses at local, provincial, and national levels.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for equipment sourcing, design, and grid connection.
- Support financial modeling and contract negotiations, including legal review.
- Identify investment opportunities, manage due diligence, and oversee project acquisition and development from pre-feasibility to bankability.
- Develop project maps, stay updated on market and regulatory changes, and pursue tender opportunities.
- Manage bidding processes, prepare business cases, and report progress to the Head of Project Development.
- Lead project management activities during financial closes and participate in client relationships and Power Purchase Agreement negotiations.
Finance and Revenue Generation
- Assist in proposal preparation for power purchasers and support project tracking and internal reporting.
- Evaluate project feasibility studies, negotiate land agreements, and secure necessary third-party consents.
- Secure funding from lenders, investors, or joint ventures to maximize profitability.
Stakeholder Relationships
- Manage technical delivery and client relationships.
- Collaborate with landowners, site developers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Support community outreach and stakeholder engagement activities.
People Management
- Manage staff, conduct performance reviews, and mentor team members.
- Promote knowledge management and recognize high performers.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and business practices.
- Conduct research, promote risk management, and ensure statutory reporting.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields.
- At least 5 years of project management or development experience in energy.
- Strong communication, technical, and computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office.
