Gigengineer is seeking a Site Project Manager for a full-time 8-month contract role with one of its clients based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. A "site project manager" isresponsible for overseeing all aspects of a construction project on-site, including planning, execution, quality control, budget management, and safety compliance, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards, while coordinating with various stakeholders like subcontractors, architects, and clients on a daily basis;essentially acting as the on-site leader for the project.

Key responsibilities of a site project manager:

• Project planning and execution:

Develop detailed project schedules, allocate resources, manage subcontractors, and oversee all construction activities on site.

• Quality control:

Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets specifications, identify and address quality issues, and maintain quality control procedures.

• Budget management:

Monitor project costs, track expenses, identify potential cost overruns, and implement cost-saving measures.

• Safety compliance:

Enforce safety regulations, conduct safety inspections, address safety concerns, and ensure all workers are properly trained and equipped.

• Communication and stakeholder management:

Regularly communicate project status updates to clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and manage expectations.

Coordinate material deliveries, manage site access, and ensure efficient workflow on-site.

• Team leadership:

Supervise and motivate construction crews, delegate tasks, and address performance issues.

Identify potential risks, develop mitigation plans, and manage project contingencies.

• Reporting and documentation:

Prepare progress reports, maintain project documentation, and compile necessary reports for clients and management.

Qualifications

·A degree in an engineering discipline

·Experience in the FMCG is important, experience in the brewing industry is an advantage

Required skills for a site project manager:

• Technical knowledge of construction methods and building codes
• Proficiency in project management software
• Ability to manage budgets and schedules effectively
