Introduction: Mintek has an exciting career opportunity for a Fixed Asset Accountant.
The candidate will ensure that all Mintek assets are controlled and administered as described in Mintek's Fixed Asset Policy.

Responsibilities
- Asset acquisition
- Advise buyers and administration officers on correct procedure to procure assets.
- Verify that the cost of the asset is correct in terms of the Asset Management Policy and that all applicable costs have been included.
- Review asset acquisitions to ensure correct categorization per the Asset Management Policy.
Asset register maintenance
- Ensure all assets are on the register and depreciation is done according to policy.
- Review and update asset information regularly.
- Develop and maintain asset relocation processes.
- Review data changes for accuracy.
- Ensure asset location data is current.
Asset verification
- Oversee regular asset verification exercises, including planning, execution, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Facilitate resolution of issues detected during audits.
- Assist with bar coding and asset movements.
Month-end activities
- Review capital projects monthly and settle items to assets.
- Perform monthly depreciation runs.
- Reconcile fixed asset register with general ledger regularly.
Disposal / write-off of assets
- Ensure disposal follows policy and proper documentation.
- Review assets for auction and approve disposals.
- Deactivate assets post-disposal and maintain schedules for audits.
- Advise on impairments during verification.
Administration
- Ensure policies are adhered to through regular communication.
- Review and update fixed asset policies and SOPs.
- Monitor compliance and Capex budgets.
- Coordinate with SBUs on expenditure and asset movements.
- Maintain asset master data and evaluate asset useful life.
- Maintain acquisition schedules and review asset register for anomalies.
Reporting
- Prepare documentation for asset transactions.
- Assist with year-end financial statement preparation.
- Analyze policy amendments for efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 2-5 years experience in asset management (IFRS compliance)
