Requirements
- Grade 12 plus an appropriate qualification that allows registration as an independent Practitioner. No experience required after registration as a Medical Registrar. Must have completed Post Community Service. Registration with HPCSA for the financial year 2025/26. The incumbent will be rotated between institutions. The following will be added advantages: Work experience in Nuclear Medicine; CMSA part 1 examinations; auxiliary courses relevant to Nuclear Medicine.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive clinical nuclear medicine services at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, including performing, interpreting, and reporting diagnostic nuclear medicine investigations. Administer patient treatment with unsealed sources. Fulfill administrative, academic, and research responsibilities. Undertake all tasks as directed by the Head of Clinical Department and consultants. Work longer hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure continuous patient care. Participate in academic, interdepartmental, and multidisciplinary activities, conduct research towards MMed, and provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Supervise and train radiographers, medical physicists, radiochemists, and nurses.

- These positions are joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Sefako Makgatho University.
