About the role: We seek a visionary Managing Director to lead our Land Infrastructure business unit in Africa, reporting to the Chief Executive : Africa. The MD will provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and drive business growth, leveraging extensive infrastructure engineering experience to deliver transformative projects and promote sustainable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a business plan for profitable growth and market expansion in Land Infrastructure, aligning with Zutari's overall strategy. Maintain and grow talent and industry prominence, and connect the business unit with group-wide initiatives.
  2. Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensure project delivery efficiency, resource allocation, and budget management. Establish KPIs for operational excellence and report progress to management.
  3. Winning Work: Generate revenue through client relationships, proposals, tenders, and repeat business. Contribute to client proposals and tenders in collaboration with business development.
  4. Client Engagement and Relationship Management: Build strong client and stakeholder relationships, lead engagement initiatives, and identify opportunities for business development. Manage project pipelines for successful execution.
  5. Leadership and Development: Inspire and lead the team, foster collaboration, promote diversity and professional growth, and influence staff development.
  6. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure project compliance with standards and regulations, uphold quality, and promote initiatives like youth empowerment and technical development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive civil engineering experience, including senior management roles.
  • Proven success in strategic planning, business growth, and financial management in a competitive environment.
  • Experience managing large teams in professional services.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to build relationships and seek growth opportunities.
  • Deep knowledge of civil infrastructure fields, industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Visionary leadership, business acumen, strategic thinking, innovation, client management, team leadership, and adaptability skills.
