Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team, based in Sandton. Provide 2nd level escalation support for BAU teams, ensuring that networks and client connectivity platforms meet or exceed availability.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure quality, performance, and resiliency requirements in SLAs, contributing to mitigating technology risks.
2. Interpret the technology infrastructure architecture roadmap and implement network and client connectivity solutions.
3. Design and innovate network infrastructure to maximize performance, reliability, and resiliency.
4. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within quality standards, and add value to the business.
5. Identify potential issues and propose solutions, applying cost-effective principles.
6. Provide input into the IM budget for infrastructure platforms.

Stakeholder Management

Build relationships, promote openness, and ensure clients understand network requirements. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and leverage vendor networks. Mentor and coach team members.

Process Management

Prioritize and execute maintenance activities, seek continuous improvements, and maintain technical fluency. Monitor network availability and support BAU operations. Document requirements and manage own delivery.

Design and Implementation

Lead infrastructure projects, develop strategic plans, and ensure capacity meets future needs. Write documentation and manage solution designs according to standards. Lead infrastructural strategy and modernization efforts.

Self-Management & Innovation

Enhance personal capabilities, stay updated on technology trends, and embody company values. Conduct R&D into new technologies and contribute to team upskilling.

Research & Development

Implement continuous improvement processes, propose innovative solutions, and contribute to client understanding of connectivity requirements. Support client calls as an advisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• CCNA, CCNP, or similar; CCIE preferred.
• 10+ years IT experience, with 6+ years in network administration and 5+ years in Cisco technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft, Linux, Open Source OS, and financial industry connectivity.
• Proficiency in network protocols (OSPF, BGP), firewalls, wireless, routing, and switching.

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of JSE culture, policies, and regulatory environment.
• Principles of project management and coaching.
• Expertise in Cisco technologies, network protocols, scripting, and troubleshooting.
