Problem solving skills and an ability to handle pressure whilst getting results, working in a "servant leader" approach, is key for success in this role.
A background in traditional project management will be an added advantage especially if it helps with some structure.
Delivery Responsibilities:
- Facilitate planning, daily stand-ups, sprint/iteration reviews including demos and prototyping, sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives for the Epics, features, and benefits that need to be groomed, run, and delivered as part of the product/platform owners backlog.
- Manage dependencies between project teams, squads within the Digital Studio, third parties, and other internal teams.
- Enable the removal of obstacles to project/feature delivery.
- Escalate delivery issues, risks, and blockers as they arise.
- Facilitate daily scrums, stand-ups, and meetings to monitor project/feature progress and resolve issues.
- Remove impediments/blockers or guide the team to do so by finding the right personnel.
- Undertake reviews with software development team members.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, emphasizing healing, failing fast, learning, and problem-solving.
- Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
- Support and educate the Product Owner on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Provide support to the team using a servant leadership style, leading by example.
- Validate the use of standard testing practices and test automation to ensure quality.
Team Management (coaching & influencing):
- Guide the team on Agile/Scrum/SAFe practices and values.
- Encourage self-organization and accountability for deliverables.
- Coach team members in Agile methods, practices, and tools.
- Influence team behavior through effective management via Agile methodologies.
- Facilitate work completion without coercion, assigning, or dictating tasks.
- Document progress and communicate to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure milestones and deadlines are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support internal communication and transparency.
- Assist and educate the Product Owner regarding backlog grooming and maintenance.
- Guide the team on using Agile/Scrum practices for competitive advantage.
Governance:
- Identify and communicate relevant project governance.
- Adhere to Programme Management Office governance frameworks.
Reporting:
- Compile relevant project and portfolio reports.
- Keep project and portfolio management tools updated.
- Generate Agile reports such as burn-up, burn-down charts, cadence trackers, and track story points and performance.
Leadership:
- Remove impediments or guide the team in doing so.
- Build a trusting and safe environment for problem raising and resolution.
- Facilitate discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Improve transparency and communication.
- Support the team with servant leadership and lead by example.
Skills Development:
- Contribute to the company's Agile community through internal training.
- Develop and mentor talent, including learnership participants.
- Contribute to the standardization of Agile methodology within MTN.
