Financial Accountant Job Duties
- Ensure that all reporting communications are cascaded down to all Head Office Departments and HODs.
- Support Cinema’s/Departments during monthly reporting, including clearing reporting validations and differences.
- Provide monthly reports (Revenue/P&L) to management for HO cost centers.
- Analyze budget & forecast variances and make recommendations to improve profitability.
- Prepare forecasts and budgets for all Head Office Departments and HODs.
- Review financial performance (functions, accounts, KPIs, etc.).
- Prepare monthly review decks, set & monitor action plans.
- Identify and report on cost-saving initiatives/projects.
- Manage Cost Centre reporting, analysis, and management on a daily basis, with formal reporting monthly.
- Conduct monthly KPI analysis of the income statement and liaise with Operations Managers to identify reasons and explanations.
- Ensure the completeness of all HR and Payroll postings to the Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
- Complete monthly HR reporting on salaries and HR expenses.
- Analyze HR initiatives and provide financial support to HR Business Partners at Head Office and Regional levels.
- Process invoices for payments after reviewing for reasonability.
- Maintain schedules for rental, electricity, utilities for analysis and reporting.
- Support Head Office finance analyst and financial Manager with Landlord queries/claims.
- Prepare and post monthly journals.
- Maintain accrual/provision balances and ensure their completeness.
- Support other functions with reporting, including sales.
- Ensure VAT payments are calculated and claimed correctly.
- Complete statutory returns (VAT, RSC levies, etc.) and ensure their payment.
- Support the year-end and interim audit processes by liaising with internal and external auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Qualifications such as CPA or ACCA are preferable.
Experience and Knowledge
- 3-5 years’ experience as an Accountant, Financial Analyst, or Controller.
- Retail experience is advantageous.
- Experience with SAP.
Skills
- Strong accounting knowledge including IFRS, Tax, and VAT.
- Proficiency with accounting packages.
- Understanding of the audit process.
- Knowledge of management and cost accounting principles.
- Ability to perform other duties as reasonably requested by management.
- Understanding of Ster-Kinekor’s philosophy and operational framework.
- Familiarity with company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Sound internal controls framework.
- Knowledge of relevant IT and accounting systems.
- Experience in accounting or financial services jobs.
