Your role involves project implementation, building capabilities for delivering priority initiatives and contributing to data-driven decision-making.

Job Description

As a Delivery Leader in a multinational project in public health, you will support the delivery of outcomes in preventing childhood obesity, working jointly with the local government, the client, and partners on the ground to plan for delivery, monitor progress and solve implementation challenges.

This is a 2 year fixed term engagement. There may be an opportunity for the engagement to be extended after the initial 2 year period depending on performance and business need Candidates must have existing work authorization in South Africa prior to being considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and support partner organizations in implementing initiatives to prevent childhood obesity, offering guidance and coaching to the client’s team for achieving tangible results.
  • Engage directly with local governments and partners, facilitating relationship-building, problem-solving, collaboration, and knowledge management with partners.
  • Lead data collection and analytical processes to develop robust recommendations for client presentations.
  • Implement prioritized initiatives, working closely with client team members.
  • Plan and execute stakeholder workshops, ensuring the smooth flow of routine meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of client reports and communication materials.
  • Build capacity for delivery across sectors through training, coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Write and communicate clearly: Turn complex problems or insights into clear memos and well-structured slides; speak clearly and concisely in remote and in-person settings. Be able to simplify complexity, translating technical language into digestible narratives that enable great decision making of different audiences.
  • Solve problems: Break down problems and identify root causes before developing hypotheses and solutions.
  • Stay focused: Navigate complexity, especially in policy and program implementation, consistently steering large coalitions back to a single-minded focus on priority outcomes.

Required Skills/Experience:

Many of our people have backgrounds in management consulting, public sector implementation, government, think tanks/ policy research, and international development. Some come from start-ups and tech.

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, Master’s (particularly in public health) is preferable. Otherwise, requisite and equivalent working experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years with a successful record in top consulting firms, governments, or international organizations.
  • Must have business-level proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Prior experience in a client-facing role in public sector contexts.
  • Proficiency in project implementation or direct experience delivering results.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a history of deepening client relationships.
  • Solid team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated passion and knowledge of public health; experience in obesity reduction is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25- 50% with nearby access to an airport.
  • Must have existing work authorization in South Africa with clear understanding of the fixed-term contractor model. Delivery Associates will not sponsor applicants for work visas, nor will this role be eligible for employee benefits beyond contractual agreements.
