Job description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Health & Safety Management
  2. Oversee and implement the company's comprehensive HSE policies, ensuring full compliance with ISO standards.
  3. Develop and enforce SHE policies, procedures, and programs across all departments.
  4. Conduct regular risk assessments with line management and update the risk register accordingly.
  5. Coordinate incident and accident investigations, implement corrective actions, and ensure completion of incident documentation.
  6. Maintain the SHE appointments register, ensuring correct appointments, competencies, and accountability.
  7. Perform regular safety inspections and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
  8. Manage and monitor the company's emergency response plans and preparedness.
  9. Ensure compliance for hazardous work activities through permit-to-work systems, including hot work procedures.
  10. Contractor & Supplier Safety: Approve contractor safety files prior to site access and monitor contractor activities for legal and procedural compliance.
  11. Training & Awareness
  12. Identify training needs to support HSE objectives and ensure effective staff awareness and participation.
  13. Occupational Health
  14. Oversee and monitor the company's medical surveillance program.
  15. Manage and report on the Workmen's Compensation process and documentation.
  16. Regulatory Compliance
  17. Maintain and update the company's legal compliance register.
  18. Liaise with regulatory authorities, such as the Department of Labour, on all SHE-related matters.
  19. Ensure proper SHE document control in line with management system requirements.
  20. Environmental Management
  21. Lead resource conservation programs, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and sustainable operational practices.
  22. Manage on-site waste management (general and hazardous waste).
  23. Monitor environmental impacts and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and environmental impact assessments.

Minimum Requirements

  • NOSASAMTRAC Certification
  • Certified in Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
  • Certified in Incident Investigation
  • Experience in a manufacturing / operational environment
