Role Description
To enhance student learning through the effective use of Moodle and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on AI-enabled tools and personalised learning strategies. Primary duties include cleaning and improving the Moodle LMS, creating and maintaining high-quality, interactive online courses, and collaborating with academic staff to ensure all digital materials meet industry and academic standards.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Moodle Management and Support
- Enhance the layout, visual design, and user experience of Moodle courses in line with institutional branding and accessibility standards, ensuring intuitive navigation and consistent course structures.
- Manage upgrades, enrolments, course settings, plugins, and Moodle templates
- Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with external service providers if necessary
- Ensure Moodle is used effectively to support blended, online, and face-to-face learning.
AI-Enhanced Learning
- Research, implement, and support the use of AI tools that promote student learning, engagement, and feedback.
- Provide guidance on ethical and effective use of AI in education.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate AI-driven features into Moodle where relevant.
Online Course Development
- Assist in the design and development of online courses aligned with academic and industry standards
- Create interactive content using H5P, SCORM, quizzes, discussion forums, and other Moodle tools
- Support Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in developing engaging, learner-centred online modules
Instructional and Learning Design
- Apply best practices in instructional design to enhance course layouts, student engagement, and knowledge retention
- Provide advice on pedagogical strategies for online and blended learning
- Ensure that all digital materials are accessible, user-friendly, and meet quality standards
Training and Capacity Building
- Train academic staff on AI-supported tools, Moodle, and interactive content creation.
- Develop user manuals, guides, and support materials for facilitators and students
- Provide ongoing support to lecturers in implementing digital learning strategies and troubleshooting course-related issues.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure that course design and delivery align with The Animation School’s quality assurance standards
- Implement regular LMS audits and evaluations for continuous improvement
Innovation and Research
- Stay informed of trends in educational technology and AI learning, and recommend enhancements to the digital learning environment

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Education, Instructional Design, Information Technology, Digital Media, or similar.
- Additional certifications or training in Educational Technology, eLearning Development, Moodle, or Instructional Design
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Moodle in a higher education or professional training environment.
- Experience in designing and developing online learning materials aligned with pedagogical best practice.
- Proficiency in digital content authoring tools (e.g., H5P, Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong understanding of learning design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
Knowledge and skills requirements
- Expertise in Moodle administration, configuration, and user experience (UX) optimisation.
- Familiarity with AI tools for education.
- Understanding of digital pedagogy, learning design, and online assessment strategies.
- Ability to design engaging, interactive digital learning experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital learning (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
- Basic HTML and CSS skills are an advantage.
