PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Credit Risk Analyst / Data Scientist contributes to our Consulting and Analytics team by developing and delivering reporting, credit risk strategies, predictive models, and prescriptive models across the consumer credit lifecycle in various industries. You should be passionate about data and technology, eager to learn, and possess strong collaboration skills. Working with advisors and senior team members, you will be responsible for ensuring project success in terms of results, quality, budgets, and timelines. Typical tasks include applying advanced analytical techniques, constructing data-driven strategies, providing insights, and presenting key recommendations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data processing, manipulation, and validation
• Performance and exclusion analysis
• Action-effect analysis
• Feature engineering
• Development of machine learning and data science models for various industries and use cases
• Development of predictive models across the credit lifecycle
• Designing advanced analytical solutions to solve client business problems
• Reporting, investigative analytics, and problem-solving
• Model validation, testing, implementation, and monitoring
• Credit risk strategy development
• Preparing professional reports and presentations for clients
• Building close relationships with clients to identify further development opportunities
• Collaborating with sales, marketing, software, and consulting teams on joint projects

KEY REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

A numerical degree in statistics, operational research, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields.

EXPERIENCE

At least 2 years in consumer credit analytics.

OTHER

The role is primarily remote but requires some onsite collaboration and travel within South Africa and possibly abroad.
