WordPress Developer

We’re on the lookout for a WordPress Developer who is able to pair the art of design with strong technical ability. We’re looking for no-nonsense, hard-working people with a “can-do” attitude.

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years’ WordPress experience and web development experience
• Good understanding of responsive web design and a mobile first approach to development
• Strong portfolio of work
• Clean coding methods
• CSS/CSS3 for front end templating
• HTML 5
• PHP
• Adobe Photoshop / Adobe Illustrator
• Subversion (Git)
• Database administration (MySQL)
• Must be able to code own responsive template from PSD
• Able to manipulate plugins to perform required functions (mentioning examples will be beneficial)
• Experience using child themes and familiar plugins
• Building new WordPress sites/systems from scratch (including themes and plugins)
• Ability to work on Macintosh computer

• Planning, structuring and configuring WordPress systems
• Developing custom PHP modules, themes and plugins for WordPress
• Improving the quality and functionality of our existing systems
• Monitoring and analysing our software under real-world, production conditions
• Evaluating new technologies for their feasibility and usefulness
• Collaborating with other development teams and freelancers
• Continually growing, learning, and sharing as we strive to keep pushing our technical boundaries
• Manage your own time well and meet deadlines

A Little Bit About You

• Advise on optimisation tactics / best practice.
• A strong visual eye and understanding of design concepts is necessary
• Perspective on frontend (and backend) technologies and their impact on the design process
• Converting custom designs to code for WordPress.
• Frontend and backend (if possible) coding
• Carrying out maintenance on existing WordPress sites
• You have experience with modern web programming languages
• Passionate about learning and continuous improvement
• Up-to-date with technology
• Solid troubleshooting skills

Brownie Points

* Not required, but advantageous

• Understanding of different CMS platforms such as Drupal, Joomla and Umbraco
• You have an appreciation for testing and automation.

Terms of Contract

• 5+ years’ or more experience in a digitally-focused UX/UI design role
• Strong portfolio of work
• Strong communication, leadership and management skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Experience conducting design sprints or workshops with clients
