Job description

Objective

Our client is looking for a seasoned Head of Administration to take full ownership of their administration operations. This is a senior strategic role for a highly experienced professional with deep expertise in both fund administration and fund accounting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of leading large, high-volume administration teams in a regulated environment- ideally within retirement funds, umbrella funds, or related financial services.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in retirement fund administration and fund accounting - this is non-negotiable.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate or professional designation (e.g., CA(SA), MBA, PGDip in Tax or Pension Law) is an advantage.
  • At least 8 years' relevant experience, including time spent in a leadership or management role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retirement fund administration - overseeing contributions, claims, exits, transfers, and benefit payments.
  • Fund accounting - ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and regulatory compliance.
  • Risk and group benefit administration - managing the end-to-end processes for insured benefits and related claims.
  • Operational leadership - driving efficiencies, controls, quality assurance, and process improvement across all admin units.
  • Team leadership - managing a large, multi-disciplinary team of administrators, accountants, and support staff.
  • Systems and compliance - ensuring effective use of systems and full alignment with legislative and governance requirements.
