Job description

We’re currently looking for a Life or Non-Life Actuarial Manager to join our Actuarial practice in Johannesburg or Cape Town. Our team consists of more than 100 actuarial professionals across 5 locations in Africa – Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mauritius, Nairobi and Lagos.

Your key responsibilities

  1. Managing IFRS 17 and Solvency Assessment and Management actuarial audits for life or non-life insurers
  2. Supporting the Head of Actuarial Function and managing HAF engagements for life or non-life insurers and reinsurers
  3. Managing/supporting on engagements covering Transformation, Climate Change, ERM frameworks, ORSA, Risk Appetite or other topics
  4. Managing/supporting on value-adding projects covering IFRS17 implementation and other topics related to trends in the actuarial field
  5. Further developing our team by coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
  6. Continually learning and sharing your knowledge with the wider actuarial team

Most of your work will be project based for a once-off set period time or on a recurring basis, which enables you to work with different team members and subject matter experts, gaining invaluable experience and technical knowledge.

Skills and attributes for success

  1. 3.5+ years’ experience in the Life or Non-Life Insurance industry
  2. FASSA, preferably with specialisation in life or non-life
  3. Managerial experience would be advantageous
  4. Strong self-management and structured in the way they work
  5. Team player and proactive, self-starter
  6. Experience in financial reporting (SAM/Solvency II and IFRS) preferential
  7. Consulting experience would be advantageous
  8. Critical thinker and solution-orientated approach
  9. Curious mindset and keenness to learn
