Job Purpose

To recommend credit to place quality assets on the book and ensure ongoing risk management across Nedbank.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Validate client and supporting information by assessing the contents of the documents.
  2. Proactively manage the portfolio to ensure client ratings are updated promptly.
  3. Maintain the portfolio dashboard to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  4. Oversee the capturing of financial statements and ratings models, scrutinizing outputs for correctness.
  5. Analyze credit applications by assessing the serviceability of the requested funding.
  6. Ensure credit applications comply with Nedbank’s Credit Policy and are supported by the appropriate Mandated Authority.
  7. Approve funding decisions based on credit policy guidelines, Nedbank strategy, and thorough analysis of provided information.
  8. Manage daily excesses efficiently, ensuring the correct mandated approvals are obtained.
  9. Present credit applications to the relevant Mandated Committees.
  10. Undertake ad-hoc projects as needed (e.g., climate risk reporting).
  11. Mentor new team members and learners during their rotation.
  12. Manage stress and meet timelines effectively.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Engage in self-development through training, on-the-job learning, and career planning.
  2. Build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders by providing credit risk advisory services.
  3. Collaborate with business partners to manage client expectations within agreed parameters and SLAs.
  4. Recommend process, policy, and procedural improvements to relevant parties.
  5. Adapt credit processes and systems to legislative changes.
  6. Ensure all activities are authorized within mandated signatories.
  7. Oversee daily activities and performance of direct reports, including coaching and training.
  8. Stay informed about sector and client developments.
  9. Support the achievement of business strategies and values by aligning systems, processes, and services.
  10. Identify training and career development opportunities for self and team.
  11. Complete mandatory training and personal development activities on time.
  12. Share industry knowledge and trends with team and stakeholders.
  13. Gain support for new or improved operational processes.
  14. Participate in Nedbank’s culture-building and corporate responsibility initiatives.
  15. Identify opportunities to enhance business processes and add value.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced Diplomas or National 1st Degrees
  • Certifications such as Chartered Accountant, MBA, CFA, CIMA are preferred
  • 2-3 years of practical credit experience, including writing and submitting credit applications
  • Experience in project financing is advantageous
