Job description

Our client, a listed and leading plastics manufacturer based in Durban, serving customers and markets in South Africa, Africa, and beyond, is looking for an E&I Maintenance Technician to join their team.

Key Performance Areas:
  1. Coordinate manpower in the workshop.
  2. Liaise with plant engineering team on manpower requirements (planning / administration).
  3. Participate in meetings (Engineering, Production, Safety).
  4. Provide technical support to engineering and production staff.
  5. Direct and lead technicians and artisans where necessary.
  6. Ensure workshop personnel are adequately trained and equipped for plant requirements.
  7. Evaluate staff and maintain discipline in accordance with company rules.
  8. Maintain safety and housekeeping standards as per SHE requirements.
  9. Ensure that standards are maintained (Engineering, Safety) and are in compliance with OSHACT and ISO requirements.
  10. Carry out standby duties.
  11. Handle plant modifications, upgrades, and problem-solving (Projects to Certification).
  12. Ensure all requested upgrades/modifications on DCS are implemented.
  13. Maintain spare part availability in the workshop & production areas.
  14. Liaise with procurement to ensure timely availability of spares & equipment.
Desired Experience & Qualification Requirements:
  1. National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Process Instrumentation) (T3 / S4) / Bachelor of Technology advantageous.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in instrumentation and electrical field in a production environment.
