Job description

My client, a leading and well-known company, requires a competent and experienced DTP Operator to be based on the premises of a major client in Clayville, Olifantsfontein.

CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Product layout for retail leaflets, Digital / Social Media, and POS material. To ensure artwork is accurate, visually appealing as per Client - Corporate Identity specifications and requirements, and print-ready according to technical and client briefing specifications.

Requirements :

- A tertiary qualification in DTP and 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in DTP Design / Layout, with sound knowledge of the printing industry.

- Knowledge of the digital industry.

- Experience in creating leaflet layouts for retail groups.

- Understanding of desktop publishing skills and techniques on an Apple Mac platform.

- Knowledge of DTP software packages.

- Good organizational skills.

- Good oral and written communication skills.

- SA Citizens only.

- Must be criminally clear.

- Must reside in the Greater Jhb area and not have transport problems.

Must be able to :

- Understand and set up artwork according to technical specifications and client requirements.

- Output files according to technical specifications, using prescribed DTP software packages.

- Understand the processes and systems adopted by the company to fully assess workflow requirements.

- Multi-task and work under pressure.

- Use a variety of fonts, images, colours (300dpi, CMYK).

- Skills in using Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and digital applications.

- Output files according to technical specifications, using various software packages.

Duties :

- Receive briefs from clients.

- Set up artwork as per briefing, print or digital, and CI specifications.

- Ensure all images, spreads, and bleeds are applied according to machine requirements.

- Discuss and determine detailed DTP job requirements with Repro or Technical Team.

- Verify all content and information before starting a job.

- Produce and check proofs against required specs before handing over to clients.

- Make corrections until the client is satisfied.

Electronically check colour separations and overprint.

- Analyze, identify, and advise the technical team or repro supervisor of potential print problems.
