Job summary

SA Metal, Secunda Branch, is seeking Code 14 Drivers to operate a range of Code 14 vehicles. You will be responsible for the vehicle and its load, perform daily inspections, and load/unload materials.

Requirements include a minimum Grade 12, a valid Code 14 license with PDP, and at least 5 years driving experience with manual transmissions. Experience with a mounted grab crane and reversing a draw-bar trailer will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
• Valid, unendorsed Code 14 license with PDP.
• At least 5 years Code 14 driving experience.
• Experience with manual gearboxes.
• Mounted Grab Crane experience is an advantage.
• Experience reversing a draw-bar trailer.

Responsibilities

• Drive a variety of Code 14 vehicles.

The Secunda Branch requires Code 14 Drivers who will be responsible for driving a variety of code 14 vehicles. Tasks include, amongst others:

Responsible for the vehicle and load.

Daily inspection of the vehicle and to report all faults.

Loading and off-loading various materials and equipment

Ensure adherence to the Road Traffic Act

Ensure the safety of other road users

Abide by the regulations as set out in Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies and the regulations of the road.

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

A minimum Grade 12 certificate

Valid, unendorsed Code 14 license with valid PDP

5 years code 14 driving experience

Hands on and practical approach to the job

Experience driving vehicles with manual gearboxes.

Operating a Mounted Grab Crane will be an advantage.

Experienced in reversing a draw-bar trailer required.
