Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable
Linehaul Driver to transport goods efficiently and safely between designated hubs and distribution centres. The ideal candidate will possess a
Code 14 license, a valid
PDP, a strong understanding of
road safety regulations, and
long-haul driving experience.
This role supports both
PAXI deliveries and
Consumer goods movement.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty vehicles to transport freight between hubs and key distribution points.
- Ensure timely pickups and deliveries while adhering to all road laws and company protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure mechanical readiness and roadworthiness.
- Secure cargo to prevent shifting, loss, or damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, hours.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and route schedules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, and report delays, issues, or incidents promptly.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and fault troubleshooting where necessary.
- Uphold customer satisfaction by following company freight handling procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Drivers will operate under the
PLL Linehaul structure, servicing both
PAXI and
Consumer products. Routes are long-distance and involve high-volume cargo movement.
- Non-Negotiable Requirements
Truck Tractor Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience driving 6x4 Truck Tractors (e.g., Scania, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, or MAN)
Trailer Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with either:
- 3-axle, 14.5m dry or refrigerated (perishable) trailers, OR
- 6m x 12m tautliner trailers
Licensing & Compliance
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s License
- Valid PDP
- Clear criminal and driving record
Citizenship
- South African citizen with a valid SA ID card
- References
- A minimum of 3 contactable references, which will be fully vetted
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Mechanical knowledge for basic truck fault diagnosis
- Prior experience handling trailers and securing loads
- Background in freight logistics or transportation operations
Work Environment & Schedule
- Long-distance routes, including overnight stays
- Shift schedules may include weekends, holidays, and night driving
- Exposure to varied weather and road conditions
