This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo

Responsibilities

• Drill Rig Operation through the ability to: follow work instructions and orders; ensure proper understanding of the required actions and orders; operate drillings and equipment to instructions; effectively operate the drilling to best practice standards and instructions; apply recognized work, operations and safety standards; ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards; conduct daily inspections prior to usage; monitor that the drilling is maintained according to set schedule; identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to drill rigs; compile an accurate shift report; report to Drill Foreman when task complete; accompany Drill Foreman when inspecting completed task; assist on drill moves; assist on cable works; assist moves – drills hole to hole when assistance is not available; housekeeping inside the drill cab and drilling pattern.
• Teamwork through the ability to: participate in weekly safety meetings; identify actions that could prevent and improve safety and work performance; report any safety related grievances or issues to the safety rep or Drill Foreman; ensure allocated support works together as a team while completing tasks; promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices; communicate process problems to necessary people; support operational team members if and when they require help; help engineering employees to maintain equipment; ensure effective two-way communication with team members; provide effective assistance to drilling operations.

Role and Reporting

This role in the Mining Department at a B6 Level, reporting to the Pit Foreman

Qualifications

External:

• Grade 12 maths and science

Internal:

• Literacy ABET level 4

Important: applications without qualification-related attachments and certificates related to the role will NOT be considered

Experience

External:

• Two to three years drilling operation experience with certificates of competence for the drill rigs used in the operation

Internal:

• Three to five years drilling operation experience with certificates of competence for the drill rigs used in the operation

Additional Information

• Passed drill modules for support of drilling operations
• Passed basic maintenance modules for drill rig types
• Code 10 experience
