Overview

JOB TITLE: Domestic Home/Commercial Appliance Field Repair Technician (Cape Town office)

General Summary: We are looking for an appliance repair technician to repair and/or service domestic home appliances distributed by our household division and commercial laundry equipment distributed by the company.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair washers, dryers, and ironers in the field and at the customer’s homes.
  • Operate fault finding on appliances and educate customers on correct use.
  • Dismantle and reassemble appliances to make a fault diagnosis.
  • Diagnose, report, and prepare an estimate/quotation for faults found.
  • Repair or replace any defective components found in appliances.
  • Keep records of times, complete a job sheet, and control spare parts inventory.
  • Provide good customer service and maintain a clean driver’s license record.
Reporting
  • Reports directly to the Branch Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years working experience in a similar environment.
  • Matric Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a keen learner with a “make it happen attitude.”
  • Fast learner and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A relative trade test certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Experience on HOME/COMMERCIAL APPLIANCES/PRODUCTS will be an added advantage.
Hours of Work and Salary Package
  • Working hours 8h00 to 16h30, Monday to Friday (45 hours a week). Overtime may be required from time to time.
  • Salary – negotiable within accordance to experience and qualifications.
  • Company cell phone with deductions for personal calls.
  • Company vehicle provided for travelling from home to work with limited private use (VW Caddy or similar).
  • Annual performance bonus – similar to a 13th cheque but performance based.
  • Medical aid on 50/50 basis – Discovery classic saver plan and voluntary.
  • Pension fund 50/50.

  • 15 days annual leave – 20 days after year 4.
