Key Accountabilities :

The main responsibilities of the incumbent will, inter alia, include :

  • Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
  • Policy Development, Policy Advocacy and Policy Analysis
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • People and Operational Management
  • Legislative and Regulatory Impact Assessment
  • Public Sector and Private Sector Interface

Requirements

  • A minimum of a relevant Master’s Degree in Economics, Law or equivalent.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with executive leadership training and experience in competition law, economic policy, or stakeholder relations.
  • A minimum of 10 years related working experience with 6 years' experience working at executive management level.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to the formulation and development of public policy (e.g., white papers, policy submissions, legislative inputs).
  • Track record in stakeholder engagement and in managing complex multi-stakeholder projects (e.g., cross-sector initiatives, inter-agency collaborations).
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and negotiating at an executive level with public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in leading high-level strategic stakeholder engagements with policymakers, regulatory authorities, business leaders, and international organisations.
  • Experience in leading or overseeing screening or case classification processes in a regulatory or enforcement environment will be a strong advantage.

Other considerations and added advantage :

  • Practical work exposure to area of expertise will be further considered to balance against other requirements.
  • International and Multilateral Experience – experience representing institutions in global policy discussions (e.g. AU, SADC, OECD)
  • Extensive experience in implementing transformation projects – the role requires a candidate who has designed and implemented policies driving market transformation, particularly projects promoting the entry and growth of SMMEs in markets and supporting growth and participation of firms owned by HDPs.
