Key Purpose

The Key Purpose of this role is to manage Distribution performance and activities to surpass delivery challenges and meet customer requirements while ensuring optimal utilization of company resources.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead departmental DPO (Distribution Process Optimization) implementation
  • Lead departmental projects and negotiate contractor costs to achieve the best economical prices
  • Review department machine and manpower resources
  • Manage team development and performance
  • Lead your team and prepare a strategic plan for the financial year with insights for the Depot Business Plan
  • Review Master Data
  • Oversee Business descriptions, Process Mapping, Service Level Management, Routing
  • Plan and manage SLAs, including high volume periods
  • Develop departmental annual budget (Fixed and Variables) and manage costs throughout the year
  • Set and cascade team and individual goals
  • Develop peak sizing and planning for critical periods
  • Manage Customer and Driver master data
  • Conduct bi-annual Customer service evaluations and analyze feedback with action plans
  • Plan and manage trade visits and ensure compliance
  • Manage full beer return process
  • Monitor safety and enforce critical behaviors
  • Manage 3PL contractors and drive performance improvements
  • Manage supply chain transfers and ensure adherence to plans
  • Review all SLAs and address non-compliance issues with stakeholders
  • Lead weekly departmental performance meetings to review trends and plan improvements
  • Address beer age issues with sales via action plans
  • Prepare and analyze contractor payments
  • Manage departmental costs to achieve budget
  • Align business plan with Sales and Distribution strategy
  • Support Distribution team goals aligned with the Depot business plan
  • Calculate delivery fleet size and mix for cost and service efficiency
  • Optimize fleet utilization through effective use of own vs. contracted transport and route planning
  • Ensure vehicle contingency plans are in place for replacements
  • Ensure fleet and drivers comply with statutory requirements
  • Maintain fleet assets
  • Interpret and implement delivery schedules

  • Analyze and respond to distribution performance metrics

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant 3-year tertiary degree/diploma, preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics
