Job description

Main focus of the role will be to ensure smooth day-to-day management and running of the Dispatch department and Finished Goods Store

POSITION INFO :

This well established and market leader in manufacturing of hose products has an opportunity available for a Dispatch Manager to join their team at the Manufacturing Plant in Cape Town.

Education and / or experience :

  • Relevant qualifications required in line with job requirements or similar Tertiary education preferrable
  • 3-5 years in a Supervisory and / or management role with proven experience in a similar role
  • Experience and Good understanding South African local and export procedures;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • In-depth understanding of Sales and Despatch operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word and Pastel) and other relevant software applications
  • Own reliable transport and valid driver’s licence
  • Working Hours : 7 : 00 – 16 : 15 Monday to Thursday | 7 : 00 - 14 : 30 Friday

Duties :

  • The day-to-day management of the dispatch and stores team, to ensure required orders are timeously dispatched and all enquiries are attended to and followed up as needed.
  • Managing the sales and dispatch team performance, discipline, motivation and training to create a conducive environment for all staff to be committed to and excel in their areas of responsibility.
  • Manage the teams HR-related issues / requirements, with guidance from HR department.
  • Ensure that work performed by the team remains compliant to all policies and procedure set out by the company and all quality standards.
  • Familiar with and understanding of the South African custom regulations on shipping and freight (air, sea and road) and understanding of customs regulations such as, tariffs, bills of entry, SAD 500 and cargo dues etc.
  • Liaising with our current and new customers to resolve any dispatch queries when required / flagged, including facilitating any departmental non-conformance raised and apply corrective actions and continuously update customers on pending / orders in transit
  • Track orders and shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve, delivery issues that may arise.
  • Ensure final products are checked for any deviations from our set quality standards such as correct batch numbers labelling on finished products, correct packaging and packaging information and correct weight before loading.
  • Have complete oversight on all final inspection of goods before they leave the premises, including sign off of all documentation requirements by shipping companies.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices in the department daily.
  • Enforce departmental compliance to health and safety regulations, inventory controls, FIFO principles and ISO compliance
  • Implement and maintain measures to minimalize wastage and damages to finished product
  • Cost control management within the department to ensure the departmental budget
  • Co-ordinating the required physical counts and reconciling inventory with data.
  • Managing and monitoring finished goods stock levels, planning stocktakes, and resolving stock variance and flagging any deviation to our stock
