Job summary

Zimmer Biomet invites applications for a 12-month internship in our Durban, KwaZulu-Natal warehouse operations team. You will support daily activities including receiving orders, restocking shelves, picking/packing, inventory counts and timely dispatch, under supervision.

Reporting to the Warehouse Lead, you will gain hands-on experience with SAP, stock control, and dispatch processes, while rotating day/night shifts and weekends as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 23 years experience in a dispatch, logistics, warehouse, or distribution environment.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to work with relevant dispatch and administrative systems.
• Good knowledge of local and long-distance routes for effective delivery planning.
• Previous experience coordinating and planning deliveries.
• Experience with receiving and dispatching goods and customer orders.
• Ability to complete GRVs (Goods Received Vouchers) accurately.
• Good stock control and stock-taking experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
• Previous experience supervising or managing a dispatch team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and manage the daily activities of the dispatch team.
• Receive incoming goods and ensure that deliveries are checked, recorded, and processed correctly.
• Complete and process GRVs accurately and ensure received goods correspond with relevant documentation.
• Coordinate the accurate and timely dispatch of customer orders.
• Plan and schedule local and long-distance deliveries according to customer requirements, delivery priorities, vehicle availability, and route efficiency.
• Utilise knowledge of local and long-distance routes to develop effective delivery schedules and minimise delays and unnecessary travelling time.
• Coordinate with drivers and dispatch staff to ensure that deliveries are completed efficiently and on schedule.
• Provide exceptional customer service by responding to customer queries and resolving dispatch and delivery-related issues professionally.
• Liaise with customers, drivers, warehouse staff, and management to ensure smooth coordination of orders and deliveries.
• Monitor the loading and dispatching of goods to ensure orders are accurate, properly prepared, and dispatched safely.

**What You Can Expect**

Join our warehouse operations team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, on a 12-month internship. The monthly salary is R12,000. Reporting to the Warehouse Lead / Supervisor, you will support daily warehouse activities including receiving orders, restocking shelves, picking and packing, inventory counts and timely dispatch.

**How You'll Create Impact**

• Receive and restock goods; record incoming and outgoing stock daily in line with warehouse processes.
• Pick and pack customer and branch orders and support timely shipment.
• Conduct stock counts and process the required paperwork.
• Use SAP and comply with standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Carry out manual handling and maintain good housekeeping.
• Follow health and safety standards and work effectively within the team.
• Work rotating day and night shifts, weekends and overtime as required.

**Your Background**

• Matric is essential.
• Supply Chain and/or Logistics qualification (Diploma or Degree).

• Ability to undertake manual handling in a physically demanding warehouse environment.
• Availability for rotating day/night shifts, weekends and overtime. Travel may be required by Zimmer Biomet.
