A leading global logistics player is looking for a Dispatch Clerk to join their Durban (Paisley) operation on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The Durban site operates in a high-volume port and yard environment, supporting import/export cargo across Southern Africa. The company offers a structured environment, high compliance standards, and exposure to international freight workflows.

Role Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the correct cargo information, item counts, and all relevant dispatch data are accurately captured and processed. You’ll play a key role in ensuring inventory accuracy, shipping documentation, and real-time reporting in a warehouse/yard environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update Navis systems and send packing lists to agents
  • Prepare stacking orders according to yard schedules
  • Issue accurate documentation to drivers and liaise with transporters
  • Input data into the WMS and prepare daily reports (labour, machine usage, stock, exports)
  • Handle cross-border truck receiving reports and escort/invoicing submissions
  • Manage hazardous cargo documentation and prepare VGMs and HC markings
  • Track demurrage, arrange waste removal, and prepare for break bulk
  • Use "Visit Me" platform for container and vehicle tracking
  • Ensure containers are stacked within correct stack dates
  • Maintain 100% inventory control and documentation accuracy

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric is essential
  • Strong computer literacy – Excel & PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of export and port operations essential
  • SHEQ and freight calculation knowledge
  • Ability to work shifts and operate independently
  • Own transport is advantageous
