Job summary

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd – SA Steelworks Dispatch Department in Airport Industria, Cape Town, is seeking a reliable, hands-on professional to join the Cold End/Dispatch area.

You will perform inspections, assist with crane loading, maintain housekeeping and safety, and participate in ad-hoc tasks as required. Matric and 2–3 years in steel manufacturing are preferred, with good communication and stamina to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Matric or similar with relevant experience.
• 2–3 years experience in a steel manufacturing or similar environment.
• Good understanding of operational machinery.
• Knowledge about a plant environment, systems and emergency procedures.
• Able to work overtime as determined by the plant operational status.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Reliable transport is essential for this position.
• Motivated, responsible and dependable with good work ethic.
• Very good general health with stamina to go the distance.

Job description

The SA Steelworks Dispatch Department requires an experienced, committed and hardworking individual to join their team. The successful candidate will perform an essential role in the Cold End/ Dispatch Area in the Rolling Mill at our SA Steelworks branch situated in Airport Industria, Cape Town.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Perform routine inspections and report on all problems or defective equipment.

• Assist the crane operator with loading of bundles.

• Maintain a neat, clean and safe work area in accordance with good housekeeping practice.

• Provide general assistance where needed.

• Perform routine housekeeping tasks, Sweep the floor area, stack and sort dunnage.

• Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.

• May be required to participate in adhoc tasks as determined by the operational status of the plant or as determined by the management in accordance with capabilities, which includes but is not limited to training tasks, relief duties etc.
