About Us: Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Council was founded and is led, governed, and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. We deliver progressive, innovative, and evidence-based services in advocacy, support, and service delivery.
About the Team: The Tjungu (together) team provides support, advocacy, and care coordination to people with disabilities, the elderly, and their carers and families. The program emphasizes collaboration, recognizing the overlap of aged, disability, and mental health issues, and supports the rights of older Anangu people and people with disabilities to live in their communities, maintaining family, relationships, and spiritual and physical connections with country.
About the Role: We are seeking a Disability Project Officer to join our Tjungu Team on a fixed-term contract based in Alice Springs. The role involves working in partnership with an Aboriginal Disability Project Officer to support increasing independence and participation of people with disabilities in community life.
About You: You should have tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in disability, human services, community development, or related fields. An understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people with disabilities in remote areas and the ability to work cross-culturally are essential. Experience working with NPYWC staff and following directions is also required.
We offer a competitive salary package, including an above-award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days (pro-rata) of annual leave, 15 days (pro-rata) of personal leave, use of a company vehicle for remote travel, and travel allowances.
