Key Role

The Sector Lead: Structural Engineering Services is a senior management role responsible for strategic leadership, operational performance, technical delivery, and people leadership across structural engineering projects in Africa.

The role requires a 'hands-on' approach to all aspects of the position.

Key to success are balancing discipline utilization, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, fostering collaboration between services and disciplines, and serving as the single point of contact for all structures projects within the Property & Buildings Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership

• Participate in developing vision and strategic plans for growth.
• Embed health, safety, and wellbeing into all work practices.
• Identify and inform leadership of risks affecting the organization.
• Ensure effective resource utilization and project delivery quality.
• Drive recruitment, performance reviews, and personal development.
• Contribute to succession planning and training development.
• Support business strategy development and delivery.
• Provide updates for senior management reports and participate in meetings.
• Lead by example in quality management and project lifecycle compliance.
• Implement Future Ready strategies and staff retention initiatives.
• Lead the successful delivery of structures projects within budget and deadlines, maintaining client relationships and managing project risks.

Business Development

• Support external market activities and develop client relationships.
• Cross-sell services and contribute to key account programs.
• Manage prospect decisions and lead large or complex projects.
• Provide technical leadership in proposal responses and pricing.

Technical

• Stay updated with industry developments and innovations.
• Support technical capabilities and facilitate solutions and design reviews.

Success Criteria

• Health & Safety compliance, learning and development, project delivery, financial management, client feedback, technical improvements, and meeting targets.

Key Competencies and Qualifications

• BEng / BSc (Hon) or equivalent, with 15+ years' post-graduate experience.
• Registered with ECSA and professional bodies.
• Proven leadership in complex, multidisciplinary projects.
