Job description

Situated in Sandton, St David’s is a Marist, Catholic, Independent School for boys of all faiths.

We cater for boys from Grade 00 to Grade 12 and offer weekly boarding in the College.

St David’s Marist Inanda seeks to appoint a dynamic experienced educator in the following position:

DIRECTOR: SPORTS – PREPARATORY SCHOOL

We invite applications for the position of Director: Sports – Preparatory School. This is a leadership role suited to a dynamic, passionate, and experienced educator with a strong track record in sports management and administration.

  • A qualified teacher with a recognised teaching qualification, a sports diploma or degree will be advantageous.
  • You must be SACE registered and have the latest safe-guarding documentation.
  • Be willing to teach Physical Education and any other subjects if required.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sports management or leadership role within a school environment.
  • Proven human-management skills with the ability to lead and motivate coaches and support staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to planning and execution.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in several sporting codes.
  • Be willing to participate in the Catholic Ethos of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the school’s sports programme across all age groups.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance of sports coaches and assistants.
  • Manage the annual sports budget, procurement, and maintenance of all sports equipment and facilities.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the College Directors of Sport. Attend and participate in Sports Leadership Meetings and necessary sports codes meetings from time to time
  • Ensure effective planning, coordination, and execution of fixtures, events, and tours.
  • Foster a culture of participation, excellence, and sportsmanship among students.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and pastoral staff to support the holistic development of students.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and regularly with parents, staff and students.
  • Record and report on a termly basis on the extracurricular programme.
  • Organise all inter-house events together with the respective MIC’s.
  • Attend and participate on the Prep Executive.
