Job description

Situated in Sandton, St David's is a Marist, Catholic, Independent School for boys of all faiths. We cater for boys from Grade 00 to Grade 12 and offer weekly boarding in the College. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, experienced educator for the position of Director: Sports – Preparatory School. Applications are invited for this leadership role, ideal for a passionate, experienced sports management professional with a proven track record in school sports administration.

The candidate should be a qualified teacher with a recognized teaching qualification, a sports diploma or degree (advantageous), SACE registered, and possess current safeguarding documentation. Willingness to teach Physical Education and other subjects as needed is required. A minimum of 5 years' experience in sports management or leadership within a school environment is essential, along with strong human-management skills, administrative capabilities, and proficiency in multiple sporting codes. The candidate should also be willing to participate in the Catholic ethos of the school.

Key Responsibilities include:
  1. Leading, managing, and developing the school's sports programme across all age groups.
  2. Overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management of sports coaches and assistants.
  3. Managing the sports budget, procurement, and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  4. Collaborating with the College Directors of Sport and attending relevant meetings.
  5. Planning and executing fixtures, events, and tours effectively.
  6. Fostering a culture of participation, excellence, and sportsmanship.
  7. Supporting students' holistic development in collaboration with academic and pastoral staff.
  8. Maintaining regular communication with parents, staff, and students.
  9. Reporting on the extracurricular programme termly.
  10. Organizing inter-house events with MICs.
  11. Participating in the Prep Executive.
