UJ is keen to interview a dynamic, strategically minded individual with the ability to lead and further develop the Business Support Service Delivery unit.

The primary responsibility of the Director: Business Support Service delivery is to provide financial expertise and support to Finance Clients to facilitate sound business decision-making, and thereby enhance efficiencies through business partnering. To guide strategic analysis, support, and guidance to Finance Clients to improve the accuracy and efficacy of financial data and systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a partnering approach with Business Support and Faculties, Commercial Entities, Business Support, and Research.
  2. Create operational capacity regarding strategic financial planning, modelling, analysis, post-implementation reviews, commercial support, and operational reporting.
  3. Work in conjunction with Finance Division, to ensure that proper business support is lent to the business partners in terms of business understanding and reporting.
  4. Provide adequate visibility and understanding behind the Finance products and offerings.
  5. Conduct analysis of customer opportunities and perform investigative work on specific problems that arise.
  6. Implement, monitor, and manage internal controls regarding the recording & accounting of client budgets and expenses.
  7. Provide financial modeling, business decision support, and cost/benefit analysis to relevant stakeholders.
  8. Oversee the allocation of external funds in alignment with UJ's strategic direction.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Registration with SAICA as a Chartered Accountant or registration with CIMA.
  2. Postgraduate qualification and/or advanced technical or professional certification (NQF 8).
  3. Industry-Specific Qualification (NQF 8).
  4. Five to eight years of experience in the financial environment.
  5. Extensive and demonstrable management experience across key financial management components, including IFRS requirements.
  6. Management of medium to large staff contingent.
  7. Experience in project management and knowledge of Project Management principles.
  8. Knowledge of financial analysis and financial planning at strategic level.
