Job description

Applications are invited for the post of Director of Nursing - High Secure Services.

This is a pivotal role and is a rare and exciting opportunity to provide the overall clinical leadership of Broadmoor Hospital. The post holder will ensure that all aspects of nursing and multi-disciplinary care are delivered to high standards, providing the best possible experience and outcomes for service users across the Clinical Service Unit (CSU).

They will provide professional leadership, supporting nursing and other staff to bring about service transformation and improved patient care. The post holder will develop expert nursing practice and clinical leadership at a local level, contribute to strengthening care pathways and service development, and lead initiatives such as PCREF and PSII.

We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic, and experienced professional with proven leadership and clinical skills, focused on ensuring high standards of care within the hospital, leading by example, and maintaining visibility.

Main duties of the job
  1. Ensure high standards of nursing and multi-disciplinary care across services in the CSU.
  2. Contribute to strengthening care pathways and service developments, including leading on PCREF and PSII initiatives.
  3. Work in partnership with the Service Director and Clinical Director to ensure inpatient environments meet statutory requirements related to cleanliness, IPC, patient safety, and staffing.
  4. Oversee systems for local nurse induction, education, training, and professional development, including preceptorship programs.
  5. Develop and implement a performance management framework for nursing staff with measurable objectives, reporting on issues and progress.
  6. Collaborate with senior nurse leaders to implement the Nursing Strategy, ensuring high-quality interprofessional working.
  7. Work with the Clinical Director to deliver the Trust and Local Patient Safety Strategy for high secure services.
