Job summary

The Cape Town Hotel School at Cape Peninsula University of Technology invites applications for a Director to lead academic and operational functions across the School. The role focuses on strategic leadership, financial stewardship, and stakeholder engagement to advance the School’s mission and performance.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD, have extensive higher education leadership experience, and demonstrate a track record of research, teaching, supervision, and program development

Qualifications

• PhD/Doctorate in Hospitality or related field (Commerce/Management) or DHET-equivalent.
• Master's in hospitality management (Hotel, F&B, Professional Cookery, Food Services Management).
• At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable academic HEI.
• At least 5 years in senior managerial roles.
• Evidence of research and publications in DHET-accredited journals.
• Evidence of successful supervision.

Responsibilities

• Academic Management: develop faculty/department objectives and ensure growth and sustainability.
• Administration and Management: manage department resources and ensure timely timetables and effective operations.
• Teaching and Learning: oversee course development and student assessment processes.
• Budget and Finance: manage department and restaurant budgets, financial reporting, and cost control.
• Human Resource Management: lead staff development, performance management, and recruitment.
• Research and Community/Industry Engagement: promote research, partnerships, and industry links.
