Job description

Job Title: Director, Communication Resource Centre

Location: Gauteng, Pretoria

Deadline: July 23, 2025

Requirements:
  • Applicants must possess an appropriate Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) recognized by SAQA in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Public Relations, or related fields, majoring in Journalism, Media, Communication, or Public Relations.
  • Successful completion of the Nyukela Pre-entry Certificate to Senior Management Services (SMS) is required for appointment.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in middle or senior management, with extensive understanding of government policies and procedures, ability to translate complex information into accessible content, develop resonating messages aligned with government communication standards, and proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Guide and manage the development of key messages within the department and for government structures; edit and proofread key messages; maintain a register of key messages reflecting research data interpretation; oversee content development including speech writing and opinion pieces; proofread all relevant communication content.
  • Conduct extensive reading and research to interpret key issues. Compile performance reports on the activities of the directorate on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manage media monitoring services, including print, broadcast, and online media, for the department and other government structures; oversee the implementation of a system for breaking national and international news; provide media coverage reports.
