The Video Entertainment segment of Naspers is a broad-based multinational media group headquartered in South Africa and Dubai with principal operations in pay television and video entertainment. The group operates in almost 50 countries in Africa. Its holding company, Naspers, is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and has an ADR listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). International investors account for around 50% of its shareholder base.
An African platform operator, Video Entertainment’s expertise lies distributing media products, creating media content and selling advertising. Its key areas of operations are:
- Storytelling ranging from content creation, production and aggregation including the best global general entertainment, sport and eminent African content library, delivered to customers
- Pay Television: direct-to-home satellite and digital terrestrial television services; and
- SVOD: subscription video on demand services across multiple online platforms with a focus on library and local content in developing markets
- Advertising: providing dynamic media solutions; handling commercial airtime, on-air sponsorships, content integration, and online sales across a variety of 130+ channel brands on linear TV, VOD, social media, and digital platforms.

Purpose of the Position:
- The Manager: Digital Ad Delivery will work cross-functionally across DStv Media Sales (DMS), acting as a link between business owned digital platforms (e.g., DStv Stream, Showmax, M-Net channels and SuperSport websites), non-business owned digital platforms (e.g., social media), clients and agencies
- Management of DMS OTT Streaming platform, B-VOD (Broadcast Video on Demand) and trade digital platforms – through creation, sales and coordination of digital media campaigns
- Supervising the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) digital ad operations team
- Support revenue generation for DMS commercial OTT, BVOD & digital offerings, as well as third-party platform partners (i.e. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc.)
- Create and sell the above offerings for internal stakeholders and advertisers
- Manage all key aspects of campaign executiont, revenue tracking, inventory & yield optimization to support internal stakeholders and key customers
- Lead tactical and operational initiatives, under the guidance of the Senior Manager: Digital Ad Operations
- Deliver platform and operational insights to drive revenue growth for DMS

- Use client insights to identify and evaluate strategic and innovative revenue generating sales initiatives and pathways to support the execution of the DMS sales strategy, all the while ensuring alignment to the growth strategy
- Support new Digital advertisers to the various platforms, looking at innovative ways to on-board new business and increase investment in this area
Support Lead Generation
- Support the digital sales initiatives at DStv Media Sales
- Educate, develop and recommend strategic direction to clients on how to use the medium effectively
Policy Adherence
- Policy and procedure implementation
- Manage adherence to policy according to territories
Operational Excellence
- Work closely with DMS Business Enablement, Media Strategy and Insights, Client Sales, Digital Sales, General Entertainment, and SuperSport teams to create proposals as well as manage and execute the VOD and/or digital component linked to the content and/or sponsorship opportunity
- Oversee and manage analytical work required to formulate a proposed direction
- Implement and manage social media campaigns for clients; and monitor trends in social media tools and applications, and appropriately apply that knowledge to increasing the use of social media partners for clients
Client Relationship Management
- Support in the formulation of strategic digital frameworks
- Maintain and develop a network (build new relationships and keep/enhance existing client relationships)
- Establish solid relationships with agency partners and direct clients
- Attend industry events and conferences to generate new business leads (as and when required)
Special Projects
- Collaborate cross-functionally to design customised and bespoke sales solutions and/or new revenue streams
- Plan and execute assigned client campaigns, keeping an eye on potential opportunities for integration with other initiatives/products
- Be actively involved in implementing a system, tech or a process in Ad Ops that impacts the broader company and other departments
People Management
- Develop a high performing team and encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members
- Determine and analyse development needs for the team
- Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate if required
- Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Improvement Programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with and escalated to relevant Manager
- Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognized
Qualifications
- Degree
- Post-grade qualification advantageous
Experience
- 5-8 years relevant experience in a large Sales or Media or Telecommunications company or environment
- A minimum of 5 years in the Television or Digital Advertising industry with specific hands-on experience in Digital Ad Operations
- Proven record of sales generation is advantageous
- Proficient in Digital and OTT platforms and products across: VOD, Live-linear, Social Media, etc.
- Knowledge of the advertising industry and established networks
- Understanding of the SSA Television & Digital industry and proven success in the country
- Existing media industry relationships and a proven ability to build productive relationships
