Job description

Position Purpose
A key focus of the Specialist will be maintaining and optimizing the Medscheme website, ensuring content is accurate, up to date, user-friendly and aligned with SEO best practices.

This role also involves strategic content creation, data-driven campaign optimization and stakeholder collaboration to position the company as an industry leader.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a results-driven social media strategy that enhances brand visibility, engagement and thought leadership, while also overseeing performance analytics, managing social media reputation and exploring innovative content trends to maximize impact.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree / Diploma in Marketing, Digital Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in website content management and social media execution, preferably in a corporate or healthcare environment.
- Proven track record in managing paid social media campaigns and delivering strong engagement metrics.
- Proven experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Sitecore, or Drupal.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles, UX best practices and website performance analytics.
- Experience in crisis management and reputation control on social media.
- Excellent copywriting, storytelling and visual content creation skills.

What will you do

Accountabilities:

  1. Continuous improvement: Implement practical solutions that use the specialist and departmental systems and processes. Provide specialist input and recommendations to improve the efficiency, compliance and quality objectives related to the area of specialization. Identify problems and develop and propose solutions to present to appropriate leader or stakeholders. Ensure day to day operational support required from area of specialization is provided to enhance performance.
  2. Cost containment: Support the identification, development and implementation of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialization. Continuously review cost / benefit and Return on Investment within area of specialization.
  3. Drive customer-centricity: Maintain a high level of impact on other departments to support improved delivery. Continually increase understanding of client and stakeholder needs, satisfaction and service delivery.
  4. Knowledge management: Ensure that adequate knowledge regarding specialization is shared as required and maintained within the research library. Provide advice and / or training as required.
  5. Maintain expertise level: Be a member of related professional bodies. Ensure CPD (continual professional development) or similar accreditation requirements are met annually to ensure maintained specialist accreditation.
  6. Network key relationships: Engage with and provide support to the established network of internal and external expert resources and partners.
  7. Specialist support to projects: Provide Specialist expertise and ensure best practice related to specialization is implemented in projects, when required. Conform to project management disciplines when participating in projects. Represent department or project on appropriate committees related to area of specialization.

Position Specific Outputs

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Website Content Management & Optimization: Ensure the Medscheme website is updated, accurate and aligned with brand messaging. Manage content uploads, edits and overall site maintenance using a Content Management System (CMS). Work closely with IT and development teams to troubleshoot site issues and enhance user experience. Ensure SEO best practices are applied to all web content to improve visibility. Regularly review site performance analytics and provide recommendations for improvement. Ensure website compliance with accessibility and UX best practices. Collaborate with internal teams to develop high-quality, engaging and innovative content (written, visual and video) tailored for digital platforms. Drive executive thought leadership by crafting compelling LinkedIn and industry-related content.
  2. Social Media Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with business objectives. Plan, create and manage content across all social media platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand positioning, in alignment to the Group. Explore emerging trends, formats and platforms to enhance engagement. Implement and manage paid social media campaigns, ensuring maximum ROI. Ensure a proactive approach to community management on social media. Monitor brand mentions, respond to queries and engage with audiences to maintain a strong online presence.
  3. Performance Analysis & Optimization: Track, analyse and report on social media performance metrics (KPIs) to measure impact. Provide monthly insights and strategic recommendations to optimise content and campaign performance. Utilise social listening tools to identify trends, sentiment shifts and opportunities for engagement.

Reporting & Role Clarity:
Reports to: Senior Specialist - Branding & Digital Marketing (AfroCentric Group).
Collaboration with: Medscheme's internal marketing & communication teams. Senior Specialist: Provides strategic direction, oversight and performance management. Coordinator: Executes daily tasks, manages content updates and handles engagement.
