Diesel Technician

Cape Town

Job Purpose :

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Technician to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will be a qualified diesel mechanic with experience in truck repairs, who takes pride in workmanship, adheres to health and safety standards, and demonstrates a high level of technical expertise and professionalism in both workshop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Support the Workshop Foreman constructively and maintain professional internal relationships.
  2. Deliver high-quality work with attention to detail and manage tasks independently.
  3. Accurately record hours worked, lubricants, parts, and consumables used on job cards.
  4. Adhere to all system processes as directed by management, including updates.
  5. Maintain good relationships with parts and workshop staff.
  6. Participate actively in all relevant training and share knowledge with team members.
  7. Attend breakdowns professionally, ensuring full understanding of the job prior to attending.
  8. Ensure the company vehicle is clean, presentable, and driven responsibly.
  9. Wear correct PPE at all times and follow all health and safety regulations.
  10. Diagnose and complete warranty claims using the 3 C’s: Complaint, Cause, and Correction.
  11. Mentor and support apprentices, ensuring proper skills transfer and logbook completion.
  12. Take ownership of personal development and time management, including overtime adherence.
Minimum Requirements :
  • Matric Certificate
  • Diesel Mechanic Trade Test (Qualified)
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in truck repairs
  • Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence with PDP
  • Strong technical knowledge and fault-finding ability
