Job description

Introduction

Our client, a leading coal mining company, is seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of diesel-powered mining equipment to ensure maximum availability and efficiency of mobile plant machinery on site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on and safety-focused professional to work in a fast-paced mining environment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel-powered equipment including trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services according to OEM specifications and pre-shift checklists
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and company procedures
• Maintain accurate service records and equipment logs
• Collaborate with maintenance planners and supervisors to ensure timely equipment availability
• Respond to breakdowns in a timely and effective manner
• Comply with all MHSA and company safety regulations

Minimum Requirements :

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Test – Red Seal) – Essential
• Minimum 5 years' experience working with heavy-duty diesel equipment, especially in yellow plant (Komatsu, CAT, Volvo, Hitachi), preferably in a coal mining environment
• Solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and auto-electrical systems
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards and mining regulations
