Job Title: Diesel Mechanic – Automotive Truck Industry

Reporting to: Workshop Manager / Fleet Manager

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: R35 – R45 CTC

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the automotive truck industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of diesel trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. You must have strong technical knowledge, be safety-conscious, and capable of working independently as well as within a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine services and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Conduct engine overhauls, clutch replacements, brake repairs, and suspension work.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues.
  • Complete job cards and service reports accurately and timeously.
  • Inspect vehicles according to roadworthiness standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop.
  • Assist with emergency roadside repairs when required.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 (Matric) – essential.
  • Red Seal Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic – essential.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working on heavy-duty trucks (Mercedes, MAN, Scania, Volvo, etc.).
  • Proven experience in diagnostics, repairs, and servicing of commercial trucks.
  • Valid driver’s license – Code 14 advantageous.
  • Own tools – advantageous or as per company policy.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software and modern vehicle systems.
